Lion and Cub

(Lion and Cub are having a conflict.)

Scenario 1:

Cub:   I don't want to do homework
Lion:  What!
           (touch his nerve)
           (scream)
           What are you doing at school?
           You do it right now
Cub:   No (crying and disappearing)

Scenario 2:

Cub:   I don't want to do homework
Lion:  (take a deep breath)
           Why?  (still agitated)
Cub:   (silent)

Scenario 3:

Cub:   I don't want to do homework
Lion:  (take three deep breath)
           Let's talk after 5 minutes

(5 minutes later)
Lion:  My dear, is there anything that bothers you?
We (the whole family) can help.

Cub:   um, um.

A lot of times, we want our children to do well.
Sometimes, we say things in the moment that we might regret afterward.

Don't feel bad if we didn't do it perfectly the first time.
We know we can try to twist a bit every time when it happens.
Pat your back every time you make little bit change.

Everytime you make a little difference, you make this moment count.
Life is made of moments.  You are making your life count.

Pig and Rabbit

 a pig accidentally step onto the rabbit.)

Scenario 1:

Rabbit:  wow, you beast, you step onto me.
Pig:        (agitated)
              (he stepped onto the rabbit again)

Rabbit:  (raise his fist)
              (PUNCH)

Rabbit:  wow, that hurts.
Pig:       (feeling bad)
              Sorry, rabbit.
              That's my bad.
              Let me take a look at your foot.

A lot of times, when things happen, there can be 100 different reactions.
If you know there are hundred ways to react, would you like to choose a positive ones?

Teachers and students

(a group of teachers and students get together in the boarding school)

Principal:    what do you want to teach kids?

Teacher A:  (he is very good with presentation)
                    I like my kids to the the top notch in communication.

Teacher B:  (he is very good with perseverance)
                    I like my kids to be willing to write the same word 1000 times
                    so he can memorize this word.

Teacher C:  (he believes in cleanness)
                   I like my kids to clean up their bed every morning.
                   There is no dust in the bedroom.

(students are completely silent..)
(teachers and principal left the room)

Student A:  They are all crazy.
                   Fortunately, I am good with perseverance.
                   I pray that teacher B will be my teacher.

Student B:  I am good with communication and I am ok with cleanness.
                   Please, please, don't let teacher B be my teacher.

Student C:  sigh...
                   I just want to work on things I enjoy.  (e.g. math/computer)
                   I really don't know what those teachers are talking about.

Everyone see things differently.

I think as long as there is love, respect and kindness for ourselves and other, we are ok.
It is probably best that we are flexible on our requirement.

two bears

(two bears got together)

Bear A:  what happen?
Bear B:  (depressed) I didn't win the wrestling competition.

Bear A:  so... not everyone wins
Bear B:  but, but.. my dad was number 1

Bear A:  (look at bear b sympathetically)
Bear B:  (lower his head) (crying)

Bear A:  You know.  your dad's talent is probably different from yours
Bear B:  (look at the floor)
              (silent)

Bear A:  (give bear b a hug)
Bear B:   (silent)
               (felling a bit better)

Bear A:  no matter what, you are his son.
               He loves you no matter what happens.
Bear B:   (sobbing but smile a bit more)

A lot of times, we expect a lot from our children. 
We think if it's a piece of cake for us, it would be a piece of cake for our children.
Sometimes, we just need to hug our love one a little bit more.

father and son

Lion:  My dear, you got to go to school
Cub:   Dad, I feel sick.  I want to stay home.

Lion:  You have an important test today.
Cub:   Dad, I don't feel well.  I wanna stay home.

Lion   You can't. You have to go
Cub:   (lower his head).. (still don't want to go)

Lion:  How about you go to school.
           If you still don't feel well.
           tell the teacher and come home
Cub:   (crying).. (whisper) ok

Lion:  (Smile)
Cub:   (Slowly go to school)

A lot of times, we believe that children need the discipline.
A lot of times, children only wants sympathy and love.

Who is right?
That is a tough question to answer...

Best friend

Rabbit:  You are my best friend
Turtle:   I am!  thank you

Rabbit:  I love you exactly as you are.
Turtle:   Thank you

Rabbit:  From now on, whatever you do, I am your cheerleader.
Turtle:   oh, thanks.  Let me test you

Rabbit:  go for it
Turtle:   Am I the fastest runner?

Rabbit:  You are the most patient and persevere runner I ever seen
Turtle:   You didn't answer my question

Rabbit:   I believe in you.  You are the fastest TURTLE I ever seen
Turtle:    You didn't answer my question

Rabbit:   (thought for a moment)
               You are the most creative engineer I ever see.
               You will create a motorcycle and ride on it.
               You will be fastest racer. :)
Turtle:    (with tears in his eyes)  Thank you

A lot of times, we just need to believe.
We believe in the totality of possibility.

Everything is possible.
If Rabbit believes the turtle is fast than one day turtle can be the fastest racer in the world.
Just remember, anything is possible.

girls and boy

(2 beautiful girls are having a conversation)

girl a:  I visit San Francisco a few weeks ago.
            I fall in love with the red bridge..
            what does it call? mmm

girl b:  oh, you mean Golden Gate Bridge
 
girl a:  yea, that's right.  Now, I remember.
           Golden Gate Bridge is so beautiful.

girl b:  me, too.
           it takes a lot of talent to design and
           create this bridge.

boy c:   (whose dad has a lot of money and power)
            it's no big deal.  I can just talk to my dad
            to hire 10000 people.  It will be easily created
            in a few days.

(girl a and girl b look at each other)

girl a:   oh, i just remember i got to go home

girl b:   me, too.

(They left the scene in 3 seconds.)

boy c:   (still not sure why those girls disappear so quickly.)

A lot of times, it takes talent to develop something that is unique and beautiful.
Some people seem to get the impression that if they are powerful and have a lot of money,
they can build the same unique and beautiful thing.

It seems to me that these people do not know the word perfect.
In order to make something perfect, it requires talent and time.

In order to build a golden gate bridge, it require someone who has the vision and they
hire engineers who have the talent.  It's not like you can hire people out of the street
and deliver the same quality.

Gee, I miss the time when people value talent.

(a coach and a student is on the race track)

coach:   you need to run like a rabbit.
turtle:    huh!
coach:   you will flunk out if you don't deliver
turtle:    (he lower his head.. he has tears in his eyes)

We expect our kids to meet our expectation.
The thing is that a lot of times, the thing we expect might not be his strength.
Some kids are able to meet the expectation while others aren't.
It's better to love no matter who they are.

cooking

boy:  I wanna eat at my favor restaurant.
mom:  what! whatever I cook is whatever you eat.
boy:  I won't eat anything
mom:  fine! don't eat

(later on: mom went to his favor restaurant and bought the food for him.)

A lot of times, we believe that it's more important to set the rule.
We believe that we should stay tough so the child learn the value of not being spoil.
The truth of the matter is two fold.  I think we got to let the child know we love him
but at the same time, tell him the value of being grateful.
It's a delicate balance and we try to do the right thing.

Math assignment

(daughter is working on a math homework.
 mom is looking over her shoulder)

mom:       you didn't add one hundred
daughter: uh, this is just a small mistake

mom:        dear, what are you talking about
daughter:  you know.. I forgot to add one hundred in this math assignment

mom:        this has been happening a lot lately.
                  is there anything i should know
daughter:   (face look down)
                  you are not proud of me

mom:          (silent)
daughter:     tear in her eyes

mom:           (sigh) (she didn't know what to do.)

A lot of times, parents are worried about the child's future.
They pushed the child to have a good Math and English grade.

Sometimes, the child got hurt because they want parents to praise them
rather than picking on their mistake.

So, it comes down to the communication.
How the parents present to the child is important.

If the parents present the right way,  the child is a happy camper with good confidence and
able to accomplish her math work.
If the parents present didn't present well, then it might be the other way around.

I think the bottom line is love.  The child got to feel the love from the parents.

Happiness

A:  It is wrong
      How can he do this to the family?
      Take money and run
      Doesn't he care about the rest of the family?

B:  It has been 20 years already.
      Forgive and let it go.

A:  I believe in justice.

B:  Do you believe in happiness?
      Just let go and start at this moment.
      Breath and look at the children.

A:  Sigh...

A lot of times, it's hard to forgive.
You might be right but it will keep you up at night.

Just saying, "I am willing to forgive" or "I am willing"
The burden (stress) on your shoulder will be lighter.

You can either choose Happiness or Unforgiveness at any moment.
Take a deep breath, look at your love one and choose happiness.

The perfect apple

Younger sister:  I like this guy
                          He's considerate and he's kind.

Old sister:  What are you talking about?
                   He's too quiet and he's boring.

Younger sister: What! I like this guy.

Older sister:  No. no.  Let me find someone better.

One person's perfect apple might mean nothing to another person.
The both look at the same person but they feel differently.
The trick is not to impress others but be yourself.
No matter who you are.  You are always the perfect apple to some people.

Television

(son is watching TV and Dad enters the living room)

Dad: What's your plan today?

Son: Nothing

Dad: What!
         Don't you have homework to do?

Son: Not really

(Dad become more irritated.  He closed the door loudly.)

We all have expectation for our children.
We want them to be the best yet we sometimes are nervous for our children.
It's what we called parents.

Probably it's best to take a few deep breath.
Then look beyond this moment and see what is the long term goal.

An old couple

(An old couple walking in the park)

Wife: You wanna take a vacation to Rome?

Husband (puzzled):  You want us to go home?

Wife: no.  I mean let's take a nice trip

Husband (have a hard time hearing): What about my lip?

A lot of time, we misunderstood what other's are saying.
It might start with a benign remark and it might end up with an angry bark.

It's what we called humanity.

At the end of the day, give a hug to each other and say "I LOVE YOU"
